Surely my BABY cannot have done any real damage to my nose?!

My 7mo headbutted me on Monday, hard enough to make it bleed and make us both cry! Tonight, it’s still sore to touch the bridge of my nose and I can hear a clicking/popping sound when I put pressure over the bridge. However, there’s no bruising and it looks normal.

Surely it’s not possible that he’s done any actual damage with his tiny little head?! Even though it felt like a bowling ball to the face at the time 😵

It might be broken - I’d go to minor injuries

Kimmeridge · 25/07/2025 20:23

Id get it checked. Noses have been broken by things a lot smaller than a baby's head

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 25/07/2025 20:24

Mine partially detached my retina at that age Grin

You don't want to deal with a deviated septum later on down the line. Go and get it checked out - I know someone who ended up with a broken nose having been gently thrown (and missed catching) a satsuma at Christmas - there are no rules!

Adultautismdiagnosis · 25/07/2025 20:26

I know someone who had their nose broken by their dog's headbutt.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 25/07/2025 20:27

I have had mine broken by an 11 month old 😬I know 11 month olds are bigger then 7 but maybe yours is advanced with his head strength! I have a friend who had a broken fucking cheekbone by her 9m old!

Seriously though, I'd get it checked out

Rycbar · 25/07/2025 20:48

I broke my mums nose when I was a baby by head butting her!

TeaHagTeaBag · 25/07/2025 21:15

My nose wasn't broken, but I did end up with a black eye on two separate occasions courtesy of my then baby. Obliviously both times were the day before routine gp appointments and she actually followed up with me to make sure "everything was OK with dh" 😬

youreactinglikeafunmum · 25/07/2025 21:46

I was holding dd over my face when she was a few months old - she literally vomited into my mouth 😭

Her headbutts have been intense too, I'd go to a&e

I broke a toe once and although painful, I could carry on, so would think this the same xx

HiRen · 25/07/2025 21:54

Mine gave me a frozen shoulder which took 3 years to heal. Whacked his head on it harder than I thought possible.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 25/07/2025 23:03

I would get it checked, maybe you'll get a free nhs nose job

FightingTemeraire · 25/07/2025 23:08

I don’t think DS was quite two when he broke mine when coming in head first for a hug. Alas I had just started a new job where I knew no one when I had to appear with two obvious black eyes and a swollen nose, and more than one person drew me aside and tried to tell me I could talk to them about violence at home. I assured them the only violence in my home was a toddler, but I’m not sure they believed me…

LoserWinner · 25/07/2025 23:10

One of mine headbutted me when he was about six months old and broke my nose.

Confabulations · 25/07/2025 23:37

Mine was a bit older, but he broke DH's nose (for about the 8th time, ex rugby player). And concussed me within weeks of the above. Dangerous things, babies.
