Would you choose the AI package or book apartment/flights etc seperately?

I've been offered the use a of a friend's apartment "cheap", but by the time we've added on flights, with luggage, and airport transfers, it's actually cheaper to go to the same report on an AI package. We just want a few lazy days out of season.

So, even if we don't use any of the AI facilities or food, it's still cheaper, and the liklihood is we'd use it for some drinks and icecreams etc, even if we didn't eat in the restaurants.

But (and maybe it's the snob in me), I can't help thinking the other option would make for a better holiday, despite less good facilities. Friend's apartment is in a small block with a small pool and close to bars and restaurants used by locals. The AI place has multiple pools and restaurants, plus fairly easy access to the other restaurants. It is a little bit out of town, but closer to the beach.

consider if the package deal is ATOL protected or includes any insurance, if it does then I’d probably go with that 😊

AI, both because you have food and drink included and it’s protected by ATOL. Even if you only eat half your meals at the hotel it’s a huge save

If anything was to happen - I.e major storm and your friends place say flooded etc and you couldn't go, you would have nightmare time trying to sort out flights refund etc. Whereas with package you would be refunded or amend to another holiday if the storm hit your ai hotel. I wouldn't book your friends personally and as others say you'll be covered with ATOL x

I'm amazed that it's cheaper than just flights. Probably makes sense then to go AI. Though, you'd just have a hotel room versus an apartment, I suppose?

I would go AI. You will need to clean your friend’s apartment and do all your own cooking.
Or could you have the option of both ? Pay for the AI since it’s cheaper and get an uber to your friends if you don’t like the hotel.
