So I was diagnosed with ADHD recently with some autistic traits and this may have a bearing on my situation.
18 months ago I took on a new job after a previous dreadful job where I was ostracized.
All good and only one person took a bit of a dislike to me.
Fast forward to now and I keep getting comments about miserable people or people who are too serious. Hinting at me.
I'm happy enough though.I love working tbh and my job was my hobby.
I know there is an expectation to be positive and work wise customer facing I am.
The majority of my colleagues happily chat to me and I'm v energetic type of person.I think it's my face.
Out of work I dress in colour and often get a second glance.
I smile deliberately to customers yet I guess the mask drops when I'm busy.
It wasn't ever mentioned before I went into my 50s.
Help me please. My rbf is getting me commented on.

I have one of those too. I look furious with people and they wonder what they've done wrong. I have to make an effort to smile and put my face into a non-furious pose. It's another thing to think about and just urgh.

I think RBF is fine at work. Who goes around grinning in the office? That would honestly be stranger to me. I think the other person sounds horrible tbh, not to mention passive aggressive

My face is like this but I probably look odd, fake and weird when I try to smile, like some awful grimace. Its just not me unless Im actually laughing naturally

Its worse as Im now older so half my face is sagging so you look more grumpy anyway.

Nice.

Oh the person is passive aggressive for sure. The last person left after 8 months of her being line manager.
She even said we can tell what mood your in by looking at your face which is rubbish as I love work.

Yes I literally had to teach myself to smile when people smiled at me because it was not a natural reaction. When I got my ( very) late autism diagnosis the Clinical Psychologist said that was a common thing in autistic people.
When I was younger I used to get the " Smile love, it might never happen" comment from guys all the time.
And yes OP all my life I've had a problem with people taking a dislike to me because I'm considered " weird" .
So I've a lot of sympathy with you OP.

Thank you standardpain.
I smile at strangers and say hello to most passers by.
I think people can see you as a negative Nancy if you are not cracking jokes or laughing at slapstick stuff.
