New mobile

I have a new mobile the galaxy a16. I cannot use my headphones with it because you need headphones with a USB plugʻ and mine is a round one that I can use on my laptop. I bought an adapter for £10 and basically I plug the adapter into the phone and my headphones into the adaoter. I put a youtube video on and turned up the volume and there was no sound from the video. Either I have a faulty adapter or I need to adjust my phone. My headphones are good quality and expensive and work on other devices so it's got to be the adapter or the settings.has anyone else had this issue? I can phone EE or go to a phone repair shop in my area to see if they think I've got a faulty adaoter or what. £10 is a lot to pay for an adapter that does not work. If it is the adapter i can take it back and get a refund d

Have you turned up the volume on the headphones as well as the phone?

Just asking as ds has form for forgetting this when he plugs his big headphones in...

It's got to be either the adapter or the way the adapter is working with the phone. Because, as I said, these headphones worked perfectly well in other devices where I don't you need to use any adapter

Does it show the headphone icon on top of your screen? It's likely the adapter, especially if the phones USB port works with the charger.

It's really odd because when I put headphones on and try to listen to music, I can hear the music but whenever I try to play a YouTube video where someone is speaking, it's completely silent.

Why should music coming through the headphonesbe any different to somebody talking on a YouTube video? I just do not get it.

Some films are uploaded onto YouTube and if I try and play a film with head phones, I cannot hear anything. So I have to take the headphones out. It is really, really odd.

Is there a usbc slot on your laptop? You could test it by trying the headphones on the laptop through the adapter and if it doesn't work properly then you know it's the adapter that's the problem.

If you go into the sound and settings menu on your phone there should be a section for separate app sound, if you disable YouTube in there it should work.
