They just won the semi final 2-1 to Italy.

Well it was bloody stressful, as ever plan b with the subs is working better than plan a, but fantastic. Italy defended like titans but then they always do. Agyemang is a real talent.

Why was that a penalty for England. I didn't understand why it was.

Well the Italian did have her hands on Mead. Mead did make a bit of a meal of falling over but I've seen worse given. It was stupid to do that at that stage of the game.

Because the Italian player pulled an English player to the ground in the box.

You don't watch a lot of football, do you, OP! Playing for pens is a thing but that was legit, if soft.

Exactly. You can't put your arm around someone's chest in the box, have a little shove/tug at the shirt in extra time, you're asking for a penalty!

Either way, unless the starting line up is fresher, I don't fancy the chances in the final no matter who the opponent is.

This should have been a more comfortable win and it was stressful at the end. Spain will be a big challenge but glad to get through to the finals.

I would start the final with Kelly in for Toone & Agyemang (who looks by far our best finisher) in for Russo who looks woefully out of form.

I’m not sure how we are in the final, we have definitely done it the hard way. The girls have shown extraordinary fight & resilience to get there despite conceding leads & being played off the pitch by Sweden in the first half of the QF then being second best to Italy in the first half tonight. Can we do that again in the final against Spain or Germany? I hope so, but we won’t be favourites.,

I don’t watch any football ever but I got home to hear dh and ds in our bed cheering at something so I went up to see what the fuss was all about. They’d just scored in the last minute of full time (? If that’s what it’s called? Regular time?!) - I watched the extra time with them, I can’t really comment because I know zero about football but I was happy they got through! And I was very glad to see my boys supporting women’s football as strongly as the men’s!

I think starting Kelly would be a mistake, she's best brought on to shake things up. Bar scoring, Russo has been an absolute terror to defences. My issue was Hemp but she played better today. It's a difficult one.
