I returned from abroad at Easter and have been working in catering before I return to teaching in September.
I have a eight hour contract (all they would give me) but have always been happy to pick up shifts and normal work 35-50 hours a week. These shifts were shared two weeks in advance- then if they needed staff with shorter notice it would be added to a WA chat and people would offer to cover. All good.
New manager last week, they are now putting us down without consultation for the extra shifts, sometimes with less than 6 hours notice and have said anyone that doesn't turn up will be disciplined.
I am lucky that I can walk, but equally it means I am happy to challenge it as I have nothing to lose. I just can't find if this is legal, the articles I have found are all quite wooly.
I've looked through my contract and again nothing is clear about notice time for shifts etc. It all uses the same terms I've read on line which is 'reasonable'
Thanks
