Has anyone read these by Steve Peters?

I've on a continuous journey through counselling for a variety of things and i'm finding that I like to read , discover how the mind works etc for myself in order to help rather than just immerse myself within counselling sessions. I listened to the Davina McCall podcast with Steve Peters and thought it was an interesting listen.

I tried reading the first one and I couldn't get on with it at all though I had colleagues who thought it was brilliant

I found it's basically telling you the same as any meditation mantra. So you need to figure out ways to stop your mind jumping around. I didn't read all of it though. I haven't heard of the second one.

I’ve only read the first one. I can recommend ‘The Happiness Trap’ by Russ Harris though.

Yes the chimp paradox is a really good way to explain a number of concepts to a wide readership. I’ve bought copies for lots of loved ones who’ve found it useful.

The Chimp Paradox is excellent.

I think I read The Chimp Paradox many years ago and to read a few other self help books for a course. I just find they contain a load of waffle which can be condensed in to a few sentences and most of the time are just stating the bleeding obvious
