Ok, what’s the problem?

Wundy · 20/07/2025 16:58

No problem. Just surprised. Don't recall hail in July before.

You often get hail with big dramatic cumulonimbus clouds etc. The water droplets are carried so high up into the air inside thunderclouds that they freeze. They get carried up and down, getting bigger and bigger until they are too heavy, and hey presto - hailstones.

We've just had a monsoon-level downpour, but no hail this time.

I remember getting hail in the summer before. Probably several times. Tends to be a very sharp burst, then clears quickly.

This is interesting, thank you. I feel I should've known this - but I didn't!

Oh goodness! DD said it was but I was sure it couldn’t be. By the time I looked it was only rain! Will tell her tomorrow I was wrong.
