I don't live far from it in the NE of England. It's been going about 10 years but have never got around to going.

I went tonight and my mind was blown. It's epic. I've seen lots of amazing shows but this topped them imo.
Apparently it's better this year than other years so am glad I waited.
Only downside is a late finish. But we aren't working tomorrow. I often work Sundays but not this week. It was a fairly long wait for the bus to the car park but not too bad.
I'm still buzzing and need to sleep as out for lunch tomorrow.
I imagine people from the US would love it as it's all historical. Not just about the North east.

I said to dh I think once you've been you probably don't need to see it again. But am already doubting myself 😅 I have friends who will love it. It's on annually so maybe I can wait?

Even people I work with haven't. It's been well advertised locally.

We went a couple of years ago, it’s spectacular!

Latenightreader · 20/07/2025 01:20

I went the second or third year it ran and was completely blown away - there were several bits we turned to each other and said ‘how did they do that?’ and parts were incredibly moving. Didn’t realise it was still going - must go again!

I've got a couple of mates who are long term performers. I'm never in the UK at the right time, but from all I hear it's absolutely spectacular (& great fun to participate in).

Dragonflea28 · 20/07/2025 01:31

Haven't done it yet but I love that neck of the woods and visit as often as I can, so expect will get to it one year.

ineedmoresleepnow · 20/07/2025 07:23

I've been twice and found it amazing. My kids absolutely loved it too and begged to go the following year.

Looked it up, sounds amazing!

It says it's plastic seats, is that like garden chairs? So they have decent back support?

Pinkparka · 20/07/2025 08:03

Is it a theatre performance OP? Or a display? Website gives very little info!

It's stadium solid seats. It's only 1.5 hours long so not bad for sitting. People next to us had cushions.

Dress for the weather forecast as no cover.

It's a spectacle. I can't even call it just a show as it's so amazing.

Look on YouTube as there's bound to be videos. You can't understand how good it is until you go.

I'll be honest I expected something amateur as it's mainly volunteers. I think the riders and horses etc come from Spain although could be wrong? Not that there's anything wrong with amateur productions. I've seen great amateur dramatics in the past.

This looks a bit like Puy du fou? If it is I’m going! We loved that and still talk about it years later

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/07/2025 09:46

Ah,I keep seeing this advertised when I'm working in York. Good to hear that it's amazing. DH and DS are history geeks, i keep toying with taking them.

Just looked that up. Looks like there's a lot more at Puy de fou. This is one live show. Puy de fou looks fantastic too and such a good price.

My partner has been before and enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s my thing though.

D20 · 20/07/2025 10:13

Yes it’s amazing isn’t it? I’m going back when the village/museum is built next year.

It's 10th anniversary next. Think I'll have to go back.

Looks like with their plans for 2026 that they are becoming very like Puy Du Fou, (which we love) which is interesting as Puy du Fou are building one in Oxfordshire if planning approved.
Shame they don’t allow overnight Motorhomes as would certainly have made it a trip if they did.
