I don't live far from it in the NE of England. It's been going about 10 years but have never got around to going.

I went tonight and my mind was blown. It's epic. I've seen lots of amazing shows but this topped them imo.
Apparently it's better this year than other years so am glad I waited.
Only downside is a late finish. But we aren't working tomorrow. I often work Sundays but not this week. It was a fairly long wait for the bus to the car park but not too bad.
I'm still buzzing and need to sleep as out for lunch tomorrow.
I imagine people from the US would love it as it's all historical. Not just about the North east.

I said to dh I think once you've been you probably don't need to see it again. But am already doubting myself 😅 I have friends who will love it. It's on annually so maybe I can wait?

This looks a bit like Puy du fou? If it is I’m going! We loved that and still talk about it years later

Apparently inspired by Puy du Fou. We went in its early years. You’re quite a long way from the action, it starts late because it needs to be dark. You need cushions, umbrellas and warm clothing. There’s not much else going on in terms of food stalls etc (or there wasn’t when we went) and nowhere to sit while you wait for the show to start so bear all that in mind. It was ok, wouldn’t go again.

I've been twice and it's amazing. My DP is from Bishop Auckland and talks it up to anyone who will listen!

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm a member of the cavalry team and was in the performance last night!. We are all volunteers:). There's an amazing review by theme park worldwide on YouTube that gives you a real taste of what it is for anyone who hasn't heard of it.

There's loads of seating beforehand. Plenty of food and drink. Lots of staff no waiting at all.
I couldn't get over the amount of ladies loos. No wait and there's hundreds of people there.

Most people who go say it’s spectacular, they are apparently planning some kind of theme park, not rides, like Puy du Fou , for next year. Auckland castle run by the same group is well worth a visit as are the art galleries. The market square and town hall are nice and some decent cafes.Sadly though that’s it, turn up the Main Street and it’s an absolute dump that wouldn’t be made any worse if it was bulldozed.

There's a mixture of locations Spanish, french, as well as English. Last year a rare grey English shire joined the team and a Highland pony joined this year.

How amazing. I bet it's great to be involved.

As I said, we went in the early years so not unreasonable that things have evolved over time to provide a better experience for what is quite an expensive ticket.

I love it, me and the husband have been volunteering 10 years now. Couldn't be without it 😁

Seats 8000!

I'm just watching that YouTube video now.

What level of seating did you have (price bracket?). Is it worth booking the deluxe nearer the stage? Should we go left or right of the stage?

mamareg · 20/07/2025 22:31

I was told standard is as good as any. I'd probably try for standard a bit nearer the front. All views are decent.
