Not budging at all with a flat screwdriver. Am i being too feeble or is it the wrong tool? Any advice very gratefully received!

How on earth do I remove these?

Have you tried turning it the opposite way to normal? On some furniture l have had, the attachments have tightened left and not right

lostanduseless · 19/07/2025 17:09

Yes, tried both ways. I don't know what they are but I think they aren't screws but those things you turn once and they lock into place. Feels like it will never move!

how wide is the screwdriver you’re using? If it’s quite narrow, one with quite a wide head would be better. It’ll be easier to remove if you have a wide one.

Spray some WD40 around the screw head, wipe off excess and try again, turning both ways back and forth and see if it’ll move at all. They’re designed to fit tightly, so it is doing what it’s supposed to do I suppose.

From the marks it looks like you're using a screwdriver that's too narrow?!

Is it showing the two pieces of a furniture connector, like for a flatpack? I'm no expert but I seem to remember you need to line up the oddly shaped bit correctly to release the screw.

Newdoggo · 19/07/2025 17:38

Try a dining knife (as in not sharp) or small coin

lostanduseless · 19/07/2025 17:38

Yes, it's a flat pack and connecting two parts. Sorry to be dense - what do you mean line up the oddly shaped bits? Nothing in the pic will budge the tiniest bit! I'm off to band q for a bigger screwdriver and will try the wd40 as well.

That is a clamp system. You need to undo the inset one which shows in the right picture.

Sewaccidentprone · 19/07/2025 17:40

Will the bit on the right turn at all? If you know the brand of the item you could Google the assembly instructions

HappiestSleeping · 19/07/2025 17:41

The semi circular part is holding the panel on the right to the panel on the left. The only reason there is a slot on the left is so that you can align the hole inside.

Oh god, how will I ever get it off then? No idea of the make. It seems even if I get a handyman it won't work?
