Motivation to crack on, how do you do it?

It has been a very long week, I’ve worked bloody hard and I am shattered.
Ive been away with work all week and the house is a shit tip.
Dh has been flat out with wfh, he does the childcare and house stuff while I’m away. He has had work deadlines this week, pulled a couple of all nighters to get it all done.
In fact about 98% of the time he does it all.
He is now out all day with one of the kids hobby, tomorrow he is out all day with child 2’s hobby.
I need to get cracking and do my bit.
But dear lord I’m on the sofa and don’t want to move.

Motivating words of encouragement and tips on how you get stuff done please! If you can make me laugh too, I would love that you lovely lot 😃

Set yourself a time e.g. 15 mins or 30mins. Set a timer. In that time, tin round getting as much as you can done. Then it's time for a rest for 30 mins. And repeat.

Coffee, decent motivational music, set a 20 minute timer, start in one corner of a room. When 20 minute timer goes off reward with something. Do this three times over. I find o get more done this way.

Bless you, as a retired person I suffer from this all the time.

My first thought on reading your post was to think that you deserve to take it easy for a change and it’s too much to expect non stop superhuman effort all the time. Ie - will this matter in 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 years?

But I also know the feeling when there is no choice and it has to be done.

The above suggestions are very good. I’ve read that even setting aside two minutes to do a job can get you started - which I find the most difficult part.

Recent ones I’ve started using. Just start counting down out loud 5-4-3-2-1-0. At zero you have to launch yourself off the sofa, chair and just start doing it. Others are put on some really favourite, pop and dancing songs. Get up, have a little groove, then use the energy to start the task. Or go outside, sit in peace and calm for 5 minutes, quieten your mind, visualise the end result you want. Go indoors, put on the music and 5-4-3-2-1-0.

Best of luck, it sounds like you and husband have very busy and tiring lives.

Thanks all! 😀
Ive got all of my recordings to watch. SO every time adverts come on I leap up and do a bit then when they end, I sink back in.
Doing good so far.
Got to keep going so I only have to do the food shop for the week tomorrow so a nice easy day then back to it all on Monday!
