Can anyone give me a 'Fuck you, Neil'?

I sent some info out on Monday to some shareholders in my job. I sent an update to the information out today.

A Neil, who I have never had any interaction with, but who is a senior shareholder replied...

Thanks Ramsay, would have been good to know that on Monday and everyone agrees.

He copied in everone. It's more than my job is worth to respond...but a FU would be much appreciated.

And share any work frustrations...I'll be on your side.

Any kind of defence of yourself is seen as 'not in the spirit'. Apparently it's a no- blame culture 🙄

Well Neil clearly didn’t get that message!

Id reply. Thankyou for the feedback. I agree it would have been good to have that info on Monday when I sent everything else out but unfortunately it only landed in my in tray today.

I'd respond

Hi Neil

The additional information only became available today.

Kind regards
OP

Factual and non-inflammatory.

This, perfect

I would love this...and honestly, we could have known Monday but the 3 levels above me were all on leave so I did as told and then have to take the blame for an update. And I will because I bought into this 'no-blame' culture. Only applies to certain grades it seems!

Hi Neil,

I will pass your feedback on.

Kind Regards …

Add an “unfortunately,” probably self deprecating enough to massage Neal’s ego.

Neal/Neil/Neighul didn't get the no blame culture memo!

Perhaps you could spell it 'Kneel'? You can always blame autocorrect...

If it’s a ‘no blame’ culture why is Neil blaming you for the lack of information? Is there a way of reminding Neil regarding the ‘no blame’ culture? I can’t see the issue with the statement of fact that you didn’t have the information till today. I would say that’s an explanation not a blaming of anyone? Glad I am retired!

Yeah but misspell Neal as per PP suggestion!! PERFECT!!

Seriously reply all and say yes it would have been useful to know on Monday but the info only became available today.

That's innocuous surely?

Nailed it.
And yes, Fuck You Neil .

magicstar1 · 18/07/2025 20:06

You have to play the game. I've had a couple of male bosses over the years and it pays to know how to handle them.

For this one, I'd agree with him, but worded to show that it's not your fault.

"I totally agree, and understand your frustration, but unfortunately the information only became available today."

timesaretough · 18/07/2025 20:06

I’d be tempted to change his name to Nail 😂

RandomMess · 18/07/2025 20:06

I disseminated the information within X hours/minutes of receiving it, I’ll feedback to Y that you would have liked it sooner.

He is a 'partner colleague' but his workplace should be more 'no blame' than mine.

But it's nonsense...anyone will throw us underlings under the bus.

And the way he worded it too, I know exactly what he was saying (you're shit at your job) but no way to report that.

I'd be accused of disrespect/ having an attitude etc.

But it's OK for Neil to imply/portray you as incompetent? That's not acceptable either, surely?

Yes, that is ok because he is senior 😫

Pubgarden · 18/07/2025 20:09

Thanks Neil. I thought I'd get ahead of the game by sending the extra information today, but as you insist I will send it again first thing on Monday.

Dear God. This is the kind of thing of example that I use to scare myself into loving being self employed again, on days where I find out that my invoice has not been paid in a timely manner. Because Neil and that toxic culture would make me want to lick my own armpits on a daily basis! I feel for you, OP, I really do.

Raquelos · 18/07/2025 20:12

Thanks for the feedback Neil, it is always useful to understand your timelines and other dependencies. Unfortunately the specific information you have highlighted only became available the day i shared it. If you can let me know what the added value would have been, I can look for other metrics to share earlier which might be useful.
best regards, blah blah.

Copy everyone and kill him with kindness. You'll look super professional and you might even make an ally.
Obviously we can still hate him on your behalf here 😁

cloudbusting123 · 18/07/2025 20:12

Thanks so much for this Neil, completely agree! Would have been brilliant to know this on Monday!

then loads of middle finger emojis

SandAndSunshine · 18/07/2025 20:12

“Be assured that my professionalism guarantees I always forward updated information immediately.”
Or make an effigy of him and stick pins in it?
Wair for Kneel to come a cropper. Pride comes before a fall.
Wanker!

whynotmereally · 18/07/2025 20:12

I would just say. “Thanks for the feedback Neil, the information only became available today but I’ll take it on board for future reference.”

martinisforeveryone · 18/07/2025 20:14

I don't understand. People who could and would supply the missing information were on holiday, so that's not a fault to blame, it's simply factual.

I would respond along the lines of

The information that was circulated on Monday is all that was available at the time. Subsequently more information was released to me, which was sent out immediately, or say as soon as possible if that's appropriate. I hope this clarifies the timeline.
