Datchet?

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone knows if Datchet is a nice place to live? We currently live in Ashford, thinking of moving and Datchet as we have found a number of really nice properties to rent there that are reasonably priced. Any thoughts ?

Like most places there are some nicer roads and some iffy roads. Traffic can be awful due to the railway crossings and can be a rat run if there's a problem on the M4.

There's also a large community of settled travellers, a pro or con depending on your viewpoint

Location is excellent to London, M4, can get in to some Windsor schools, the river etc.

Agree with everything above.

If you pronounce it correctly then it's a lovely place. It's called Da-chet, with a French accent : Da-shay.

We are visibly “non-white/ ethnic” so we are worried about the tolerance levels etc. too!

I would say less of an issue, it's on the outskirts of Slough which is very diverse, however I am white so unable to comment from a position of personal experience.

Datchet - Pretty Thames side village with well stocked deli visited on our Thames Path walk.

However, anyone thinking of relocating here should be aware of the very loud aircraft take off noise from Heathrow (around every 45 seconds by my calculation).

Also, an unusual number of impatient and inconsiderate car drivers (by comparison to anywhere else visited on the Thames Path walk).

Could the two issues be connected??
