Can someone explain why though? After all it was his personal life and presumably didn't affect his running of the company. CEOs usually aren't down with the workers many of whom would not even have been able to identify him at a push (until now of course) so I cannot see how his behaviour would have directly affected them.

I also cannot see the incident having affected Astronomers client base. It didn't involve anything political or scamming customers etc.
