You know this Coldplay affair video, why were they still hugging when they knew the kiss cam was out?

It wasn’t like they were the first person that got zoomed in on
guess it shows how complacent they were

at least the partners at home know now and can bin them off

Aside from their partners why does anyone care? People have affairs all the time.

Pretty awful (public) way to find out though.

On the one hand it's hilarious, but then you think of the poor wife (the husband has been separated from the woman apparently). She will feel humiliated.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 18/07/2025 14:13

All the stars aligned for that pesky pair of astrologers.

I can't imagine how humiliated their families must feel. Seeing your wife/mum being caught having her boobs cupped at a Coldplay concert by her boss, and knowing it's being watched millions of times every minute across the world. Poor them. I know all of this will disappear as quickly as it appeared on social media, but that's burned into their brains.

Yeah the wife being the last to know is such an awful feeling, my friend went through that, her high flying ex having an affair at work and everyone knowing - she said she looks back at the social functions she went to and feels so humiliated that all those people knew he was cheating and they all pretending to be nice to her face.

They are both utter scum and deserve every bit of public vitriol they get.

Yet the routine advice on Mumsnet if you find out about cheating is "Don't get involved!" I would always rather know. In my case it would've saved me wasting several years on a completely worthless man.

Obviously we never hear about the affairs that people get away with, but of the ones who get caught, I'm often amazed by how stupid they were. I know of people (mostly men) outed for leaving messages up on the shared computer, having obvious dates in busy and very local restaurants, claiming to be away overnight with a friend who wasn't told or asked to cover for them and rang that evening and more.

To be clear, I've never had an affair, but if I did, I wouldn't have gone to the gig at all, or I'd have told everyone we were just going as mates and not done any PDA. That's the price of having an affair you want to keep secret, surely!

A stepuncle of mine got caught because he would routinely drive over to the OW's house (three streets from his own) and park up his car in her driveway in plain sight while he popped in for a shag.

Sunshineonthewater · 18/07/2025 14:25

LarrySherbert · 18/07/2025 06:17

That's not actually necessarily true. I knew one who is sadly no longer with us and he was about as far from what you describe as it's possible to be.

I know another and she is the most unassuming and modest person. However, she does work with some massive egos!

I might start a thread on the stupidest ways cheaters got caught...

I heard that he’s an astronaut and she’s an astronomer

Should have been an astrologer, she might have seen it coming

Lavenderandbrown · 18/07/2025 16:09

I’m riding in a car with DH just starting out on a 8 hr drive and things were tense…the packing / the air conditioner broke in the house/ and it’s raining and then comes along this astronaut sub thread and we are laughing hard out loud and I have tears in my eyes so thank you MN for breaking the tension

that said…I feel for their children. The spouses will cope but it’s really really tortuous for their children to be ensnarled in this public exposure of the affair

Pricelessadvice · 18/07/2025 16:18

Has anyone else been chuckling randomly all day at the astronaut comment? 😂

The poor spouses. And children. How humiliating.

I'd feel humiliated if my dad or mum liked Coldplay, that would be enough.

Pizzagirly · 18/07/2025 16:48

Well they can't deny it.

I would imagine Chris Martin isn't impressed with the notoriety either.

I wonder will there be blow back?

I am a very private person.
No social media account at all. No photos of my children anywhere.
My children are similar, everything locked down too themselves by their own choice.

I would be absolutely horrified by this.

They paid for tickets to see Coldplays music, not to be publicly humiliated by the lead singer.

I think its hilarious to be honest, but I am genuinely horrified too.

They have every reason to be furious at the public notoriety.

In a seriously litigious world, I wonder will this be challenged?

If I was on a jury I might have sympathy to their cause despite them being cheaters.

A real moral quandary!

This article says neither of them live with their spouses ie they are separated

"....As public records suggest that both are married - but living at different addresses to each of their spouses registered abodes...."

How do you think this could be challenged legally?

When purchasing tickets they agreed to being filmed and shown on screen.

Chris Martin suggested they might be having an affair. They were.

It was their reaction which made it go public.
Any trial would bring them more noterity.

I suppose they never thought they would be exposed like this. We are all being filmed every day, yet we don’t hide away from the cameras.

Not if you're doing something you want to keep hidden. Attending a high profile public concert is one of the many easy ways to get caught.

Lalaloope · 18/07/2025 17:32

JuniperJuly · 18/07/2025 07:38

So, how long do you think before the woman is forced to quit?

As she should if it's their policy. If she's the director of HR or whatever, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't hesitate to do it to someone else if it's company policy.

Why her and not him, I think is the point.

However, I am not sure it's up to workplaces to tell their employees who they can shag. That goes altogether too far in my book.

They deserve it frankly. When you buy tickets to events like these, it’s clearly stated that there will be filming and photography. They are foul, the pair of them and I’m glad they were caught out so the other spouses are no longer humiliated. I have zero sympathy. As for Chris Martin, he nailed it didn’t he? 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is why before I married, I had a strict No Astronauts dating policy.

Sorry Tim Peake, stop your begging, it's nothing personal I just can't deal with the ego.

I'm sure he's a lovely man but I find Tim Peak terribly dull. If I were married to him I'd probably have affairs. But I'd also make sure to avoid Coldplay concerts.
