Son (17) on 2 week pathway

I’m very anxious. Son has had a breast type lump for around 2.5 years which we were led to believe was hormonal, normal and part of puberty. It didn’t disappear as they usually do and hasn’t got bigger. Saw GP last week and did some hormone blood test and has now been referred to breast clinic under 2 week pathway for cancer

I am shocked and tried to get through to a GP today but couldn’t get past the receptionist who was less than helpful

his latest hormone results show this and were flagged ‘red’ even though last year they were higher and considered normal.

jf anyone is medical or understands this please can I have some advice on what this means please?

Bumping for you @cosietea and I hope you get some answers soon. Fingers crossed all is ok.

It’s only mildly elevated but that could be due to him being a teenager.

He would likely have more symptoms by now if it was cancer. I’m sure they are referring his as a precaution

Good luck!

Alk Phos is produced by liver and bone.
It’s common for it to be raised in teenagers as their bones are growing.
A lump behind the nipple that hasn’t changed in 2 years is not very likely to be anything worrying.
However your GP is being thorough in ruling anything out.
Hopefully he gets an appt quickly and you can be reassured

Can you post the rest of his results? Or was this the only one that was abnormal?

Was the white cell count normal?

cosietea · 17/07/2025 20:42

We didn’t get white blood cell this time as it was hormones only I think. He did have a full blood count last year when he had lots of UTIs ( now cleared) and no raised white cells then
