Alternative to Motability- any experience?

Would be very grateful if any of you could share experiences of getting a WAV (wheelchair has to go into the back with DC in it) from a source other than Motability.
The reason I’m asking is although I have 1 year left on the lease of my WAV a) I don’t think Motability allows a rolling lease to the next WAV when the lease expires any more and b) I don’t think they allow the purchase of the WAV (they did when we joined and that was my intention) any more.
Its also such an expensive way to get a WAV and I’d rather exchange the mobility component to obtain a powered wheelchair as DC needs one that’s going to be around £18,00-£20,000 and we just don’t have the money for that.

Any advice greatly appreciated!!

I guess the alternative is to buy a second hand WAV. Motability do auction their vehicles off but I’ve no idea where they do that.
