Start by getting yourself a deck - the original rider Waite deck is one of the most popular and easy to decipher. Get a book alongside it - that will break down what each card means.
The easiest way to learn is to learn the general themes first I.e the difference between a major arcana & minor arcana, rather than trying to memorise each individual card.
The minor arcana has 56 cards split within 4 suits. Each suit in the minor arcana has a general theme I.e cups = emotions, relationships, intuition etc whereas pentacles = practical/physical i.e work, finances, tangible possessions.
Next, focus on what each number means I.e the number 5 of each suit is considered to be the conflict card, whereas 10 is considered to be resolution. If you pull the 5 of cups it might point towards some turbulence within a relationship for example.
Learning the general themes of the suits & the numbers will help in your interpretation. There are lots of resources available online (even on places like tiktok!)
Finally, if your goal is to help people, be very careful. Tarot can be a great exercise in focusing on specific issues, getting you thinking, weighing up decisions etc but it should not be dressed up as some kind of divine instruction IMO. Reading tarot is about using your intuition. I only do it for myself when I’m struggling with something, or for friends for fun.
