When you see a photo of yourself, what is your first thought? What age are you?

Mine is ‘do I look fat?’. I’m 58.

The reason I ask is that I’m really trying to stop judging my worth on the basis of my size. I’m not overweight, but have areas I hate and will always focus on these in photos. I’m interested to know if others do the same, and if younger people think differently. I’m of a generation that was raised to think that thin is good and exercise and healthy eating were done mainly for weight loss!

keen to hear some more positive thoughts

When I look in a mirror I see a fat old cow looking back at me. But when I look at old photos I realise how young I looked, how much thinner I was then compared to now. I am trying very hard to appreciate how I look now as I’m only getting older and fatter. I wasted so much time hating myself when I was growing up and in my 20s and 30s. But now I’m trying really hard to see what my kids see when they look at me and what my husband sees.

love yourself. You are beautiful.
