I am a complete Facebook novice. Set up an account with minimal information, got contacted to say I had contravened their rules ( didnt say how) and said my account would be inactive and I had X many days to appeal. I appealed straightaway ( but the appeal just consisted of me uploading my photo, nowhere for me to explain what I had done). Immediately contact to say I hadn’t satisfied the basis for an appeal, my account is now permanently inactive - tough.

I have no idea what I am supposed to have done. Ive googled and googled and cant see any way to contact anyone about it and just seem stuck. Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

14 years ago (I remember because I’d not long had my now 14 year old) I logged on to Facebook and couldn’t access my account unless I either provided photographic ID (to prove my name was my name) or changed my name. The name I’d used was a shortened version of my first name (eg, Vick) and my genuine but unusual surname. I’d had the account since 2008 ish and used it most days. I couldn’t send them photo ID as Vick wasn’t on my passport, Victoria was, so I kept my last name the same and changed the nickname to Vicky. It let me access my account, so I deleted everything on there and closed it. Then I set up a new account using Vick Unusual last name. Which it doesn’t have a problem with. And I’ve been using it for the last 14 years. No idea why it had a problem with the first one!
