Disneyland Paris in a day?

Fridaynightfish · 16/07/2025 09:45

Can we manage it?

Tween and teen.

Disney isn’t my thing but I’m sure I will get caught up in it all when I get there and enjoy it.

Heading to Paris in August and would prefer not to use two days of the trip at Disney but also don’t want to waste £500 on one day if we can’t do it all.

I took teen dd and we did it in a day but there are two parks and we only did the one main park, that was enough for us.

You have to book tickets in advance as it’s really difficult to buy tickets on the door (as I discovered 🤦‍♀️.)

IthasYes · 16/07/2025 10:07

For 500 quid I'd say no.
It took 2 visits to work out how to get on rides fast.

I'd save that money and put it toward an annual pass then you can stay in partner hotels and re visit over a year.

Seeing the castle main street and a parade

. And maybe.. Maybe he getting on two or three rides... No.

IthasYes · 16/07/2025 10:08

There is a beautiful old fair ground in Paris park acclimatised or something like that

Tbh I don't know if I would bother for that money. The studios has much better rides for the age of your children (and all the marvel stuff if they are into that.) but the castle and fireworks are in the other park. You won't get both done and that is really expensive.

Tygertiger · 16/07/2025 10:12

We spent a few days there recently and you definitely can’t do all of it. There are two parks (next to each other) and loads to do at each one. It’s not just rides, it’s shows and parades too (all included in the price, so you’ve paid for them even if you don’t do them and they’re excellent). You could get a flavour of it but definitely couldn’t do it all. Plus in August it will be hugely busy so you’ll be queuing, unless you spend a fortune on fast passes.

Even if you don’t like the Disney thing you’ll enjoy it. It’s really good. I would plan two days there as a minimum. Staying on-site is great if budget allows as the kids can get in the park an hour before everyone else and there are hotels with pools if that might suit you better.

We had one day at Disney about 15 years ago, staying with an aunt in Paris. One day with her, one day doing Paris. Kids were 3&5. It was February and freezing. It’s achievable and I think the best way to do Disney if you’re not that into it. The boys never asked to go back, so for me it was a result! 18yo went to Paris in a school trip and is still raving about it.

IthasYes · 16/07/2025 10:14

Oh yes we started our year pass I February and had multiple layers of thermals and hand hotties snow boots at and still froze and yes it was quiet!

whiterabbity · 16/07/2025 10:15

You would be best off sticking to the main park and be willing to buy fast passes if you want to get it done in a day. Maybe not for every ride but for the big ones you definitely want to do.

user1471538283 · 16/07/2025 10:16

It's a lot to do in one day. We did it over 3, both parks, all the parades and a couple of meet and greets. We absolutely loved in and we were there from open to close. It is also shattering.

NuffSaidSam · 16/07/2025 10:17

I wouldn't.

August will be so busy, potentially really hot and you'll be really rushed in a day.

I'd leave it and go another time for a few days if you think they'd enjoy it.

Fridaynightfish · 16/07/2025 10:20

Thank you everyone.

Wont buy an annual pass as have no intention of going back 🤣

We have already booked accommodation in Paris - this was because we initially decided to do Disney in one day but now I’m having doubts. So if we go for two days we will be travelling in and out of Paris which is fine.

We went and spent two days just in the main park, not the Studios one. We slept in the car park as well (5 min walk to the gate) so we were very early in and late leaving. I don’t think a day would be enough.

IthasYes · 16/07/2025 10:25

The only issue with that is you won't get any early access to the park which is essential to getting on or queuing for the good rides. The annual pass also gets you the extra hour and a speficic entrance ( which you sail through with no queues whilst the hotel guests are in a huge queue)

I'd leave it go to jardin du acclamation it's beautiful

Fridaynightfish · 16/07/2025 10:26

We are definitely doing Disney - DC are excited about it.

I'm similar to you OP. We're staying 20 mins from Disney in a few weeks time, children have no huge interest in it but as we will be so near I've booked tickets. Definitely only doing 1 day and not buying fast passes. I know we won't see/ do everything so wondering what to focus on.
Just a tip on tickets - I had booked some a few months ago but cancelled yesterday and rebooked as better price as we get closer to the date - also might be worth buying 4 adult tickets as a promotion on if you book 4 tickets.

Thank you - DH is determined to try it in a day! It’s because he would rather not go at all tbh.

A day is better than nothing and you could do a lot but not everything. You’ll get to see fireworks at the end which is really cool. We were skeptical but have ended up doing 3x two day trips with our kids. My two weren’t remotely interested in parades or meeting people dressed as characters which gave more time for rides. Some of the rides like It’s a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean have a big capacity so waits are never too terrible. There’s lots to wander around and look at.

I’d recommend sticking to one park only and do some research on rides with faster queues. Download the app on the day for queue times. They go down around meal times and later in the day.

tinyspiny · 16/07/2025 12:45

You won’t do it all in a day , you can’t change do a lot though and to get the best experience you will need a park hopper ticket as there are good rides in both parks

mumonthehill · 16/07/2025 12:51

We did a day and it was fine. You cannot do it all but if you plan well then you can enjoy it. It is not cheap but fun and I say this as someone who really did not want the go!

KnickerlessParsons · 16/07/2025 13:06

You’d be better off spending the £500 on a day trip to Park Asterix

givemushypeasachance · 16/07/2025 13:08

What are your priorities? Going on lots of rides? Going on particular rides? Are one/both of your kids particularly into Disney and likely to want to try to meet characters? Do you like watching parades with dancing/music or would that bore you to tears? Do you not really care about the theming, it's just about the rides, or is being right there in front of the castle to take an amazing picture and marvelling at all the little Disney touches what would make the trip special?

SpringGreensAgain · 16/07/2025 13:20

We've day-tripped it twice, and loved it - just to the one site, though. Planning ahead is essential - work out which rides you are most interested in, and nab strategic fast passes for those early. Get clear on routes around the venue. We had a great time, and one (very) long day was plenty for us. Kids were 12, 8 and 6 at the time. We stayed in a cheap motel nearby and drove in.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 16/07/2025 17:41

I’m with you on never going back 🙈😂 I walked out after doing it in a day she thought thank God I never have to do that again! 😂

It is doable in a day but just the one park so double check which one you want to do the most.

stayathomer · 16/07/2025 17:50

We’ve done it in a day, (went back and did it over two a few years later)popped over to the second park for two hours in the evening then back to the main one. I think if you’re not into it then it’s grand, I’d make sure to see the show, about ten pm I think to round it off. Crushers coaster was the best ride for me but also the biggest queuing times also ratatouille so I’d suggest going to them first to get them out of the way or you may not get to them. The theatre showing old Mickey Mouse cartoons weirdly was something my kids all loved. Big thunder mountain and buzz light year ride and space mountain were ridden over and over again. It’s a small world just for Disney magic! Enjoy op!
