Sainsbury's delivery keeps coming early?

I book a specific slot for my delivery because it suits me, because it allows me to get the kids out to school or get dinner done or whatever prior to the delivery coming. In the past the driver would sometimes call ahead say he could get their early but now they never do. They just show up 20 - 40 minutes early without warning. Which sometimes means I am still not even dressed or in the middle of dinner.

Does this happen to anyone else? I am fine with being flexible and helping the drivers out but this seems a bit unfair.

I wouldn’t answer the door

is it the same guy every time?

Junioh · 15/07/2025 15:07

Yes happens quite a lot. They do often call ahead. I think if you weren't in or just didn't answer they would probably just come back in the correct timeslot. I think they do it because their last job was probably close by. It's a bit annoying, but overall better than if they come late!

Have you spoken to Sainsbury’s about it? Not answered the door?

Happens to me with Tesco they say in the app they’ll wait but they never call and just unload everything and knock ??? Sometimes I’m not at home !

This happens often with my Tesco delivery. They’ve been as much as 45 minutes early. Some drivers send a text asking if I want it delivered early but more often than not they just turn up.

I usually get a phone call first asking if it’s okay to deliver (Ocado).

dahle · 15/07/2025 15:13

I guess if I just didn't answer they would come back but that feels a bit rude. I did once get a call from a delivery driver asking where I was when he's arrived very early to find me out and he sounded a bit put out that was a good while ago though.

I have this with Asda, once as much as an hour and 15 mins early! It is infuriating and if it happens again I’m going to stop using them. Tho I am a sad to hear it’s the same for the other supermarkets too

That's really bad I wouldn't be happy about that.

I wonder if it depends on where you live? We aren't that close but we are on the closest edge of the the town so we could be the first house on route.
