Men peppering every sentence with "mate" and "pal".

Moveoverdarlin · 15/07/2025 18:02

Beautiful on the inside and out

Love you to the moon and back

My absolute rock

Hubby, hubster, my other half

Holibobs

You got this!

Merry Christmas from ours to yours (This makes me positively want to vomit)

All social media twaddle usually spouted by fucking morons.

Passed. Not passed away, just passed. Most frequently seen on local FB pages when someone has seen a dead animal at the side of the road. 'A deer that is sadly passed ', type of thing. Very confusing as well as irritating.

This was particularly bad during COVID. Even when Chris Whitty was delivering statistics and not talking directly about anyone he couldn't just matter-of-factly say "died".

ImthatBoleyngirl · 15/07/2025 18:02

Authentic self and My truth

sweetsardineface · 15/07/2025 18:03

Learnings should be illegal.

ToWhitToWhoo · 15/07/2025 18:03

'Journey' when it doesn't involve actual travel

'Making memories'

'Woke' as an insult, and especially derivatives like 'wokester', 'wokerati'. etc.

'I'm not racist BUT....'

'I don;t want to be rude BUT...'

'Happy birthday' if said to me- I am a complete birthday-phobic.

sweetsardineface · 15/07/2025 18:03

And numerous. Almost nothing is.

SoMuchBadAdvice · 15/07/2025 18:03

Hun

Redrosesposies · 15/07/2025 11:56

With all due respect

Always used just before disrespecting someone.

Blondiney · 15/07/2025 18:05

Some meaningless bollocks about "tearing women down". Typically spouted on social media by the Be Kind crew.

When I worked for a new chain restaurant that was opening up once it was called ‘ a soft opening ‘ on day one.
It just wound me up for no reason at all and made a few people smirk. Calling the tables they had ‘ covers’ was another one. I know it’s all hospitality speak , but not sure why it wound me up.
Rainbow bridge is cringy, but people get emotional ( emosh ) over these things
Hugs , babe , honey lines on Facebook are usually from the fake people on there.

Covers isn't tables though, it's how many people you can serve.

Notjustabrunette · 15/07/2025 18:05

‘My truth’

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 18:07

Oh , I always thought covers meant tables !
my bad ..oops cringey phrase there lol

WilfredsPies · 15/07/2025 18:09

Everything written above, but especially play dates. I bloody hate play dates. It’s not a date ffs. Your child is going to their friend’s house to play.

And you can’t find and display stuff anymore. It has to be curated.

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 18:09

spoonbillstretford · 15/07/2025 17:58

A guy on the train just said "Sweet" "Bangin'" and "Cushty" all in one sentence. I feel like I inadvertently walked into the set of Only Fools and Horses.

😆

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 18:10

Sourced .. you bought it then ?

Verbena17 · 15/07/2025 18:14

‘Hun’ 😬

’If that makes sense’ 😩

’And how is baby doing?/let me just see where baby’s laying’ etc - said by health professional who seems not to know about putting the word ‘the’ in front of the word baby.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 15/07/2025 18:14

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 15/07/2025 11:55

Think that's a bit of a northern one. Lots of turning around and saying.

Irish too. For some reason we have to turn around before we speak 😁

Usually preceded by the pointless question of 'and do you know what she did then....'

Dontlletmedownbruce · 15/07/2025 18:16

Rainbow baby

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 18:19

Not a phrase at all , but one of these type of threads once on mumsnet someone wrote ‘ .. and he banged it right there on the table ‘ and they never found out what it was! I love overhearing other people’s conversations. Try to work out what they are on about ( or who )

Kneice · 15/07/2025 18:21

yellowdress34 · 15/07/2025 15:01

You do you - always makes me want to reply 'and you do one'

Making memories

Apply a red lip

A blue trouser

A tan shoe

Referring to clothes as 'pieces'

It's a game changer!

Cook from scratch

Holibobs

Pre-loved/pre-owned vintage (it's second-hand)

Snacks

Hacks

Spice things up

Change up

Curated anything

Edited

Yep, agree with all these

Can I add ‘thrifting’ when they’re going to charity shops?

prelovedusername · 15/07/2025 18:25

Everything so far. Also “working tirelessly” and, “I’ll do…” when ordering food or drink.

Are we talking about a baby chick?

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 18:27

‘ Working tirelessly ‘ is trotted out by utility companies trying to find ways of ripping you off even more.

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 18:28

Yes. ‘ pre loved ‘ is cringy.
It was so loved they wanted rid of it out the cupboards.
