I've not been out of Britain since 1999 - and that was only Dublin. Not been on a plane since honeymoon in 1992.

We haven't gone abroad for many years so we go on holiday to different places in UK.

No. Not been abroad in over 10 years. Don't see it as compulsory?

I’d be genuinely sad if I couldn’t travel abroad every year, so yes, we absolutely do. I realise that for many people it’s not feasible, but for us there are two main reasons. First, the UK simply isn’t great value for money - I enjoy the odd winter weekend away here, but in some places it’s an outright rip-off. You can’t guarantee the weather, and camping where you have to bring your own loo roll or empty your own toilet just isn’t my idea of a holiday (though I know many would disagree!).

Second, life is short and the world is vast. I want my children to experience more than just this small island, to see different cultures, ways of life, people, and foods. I truly believe that being well travelled makes you more understanding, open-minded, and well-rounded (not to say those who don’t, aren’t) but yes I absolutely love foreign travel.

We do a lot of euro camps, far cheaper than haven/parkdean/centre parcs in school holidays. Doing the Netherlands in October half term for £400 all in inc ferry

This is the first year since the children started school thst we haven’t been abroad! We’ve done a uk cottage holiday instead. I liked the fact we didn’t have to faff about with planes but I honestly believe it has cost a hell of a lot more that going abroad! It’s the price of food and activities in the Uk one trip to the ice cream farm and a pub meal out over £200
