Trousers for teen boy in 37 degree heat

My son is going away to a boiling hot country but refuses to wear shorts because he's embarrassed about his legs. Sigh.🌞

Does anyone have any recommendations for cool trousers in age 12ish with an adjustable waist (skinny kid). He likes hiking style trousers.

And if his legs aren't used to the sun, keeping them covered is a good move .
I prefer to be covered ( something light ) in hot sun, it feels cooler to me than roasting my flesh

Teens have a different internal thermostat. My 15 year old insisted on wearing a hoodie today. But he won’t wear a coat in the winter 🤷‍♀️

If you look for hiking or trekking trousers they are often lightweight in a technical ,( artificial) fabric that is cool and supposedly wicks sweat away.

DS is away now somewhere very hot. Won’t wear shorts or T shirts. I bought mountain warehouse walking trousers in waist size 30. Also very thin uv protection hoodies and tops from Amazon.
