Has anyone swapped from owning a car to using Zip Cars? And did you save?

We live in Inner London and our current car is coming to the end of its life. If we swapped to having food delivered, we could get by with having a car on one day a weekend - perhaps both days once a month. We currently pay residents’ parking, as well as tax, mot, insurance.

if you swapped from car ownership to zip car membership, did you end up considerably better off or was there not much difference?

I can't say we switched to Zip cars because I've never owned one in the UK. I also live in London (not so central, but still zone 3) and honestly don't need a car at all. The zip car works well for us. My area is decently covered with lots of options from flex to traditional zip cars. We even rent it out for the whole weekend if we want to go away. We also have the flexibility to rent a van if needed (we used a lot last years as I was doing a lot of DIY and needed several trips to Selco!). The most we've ever spent on it was £300-ish - it was a weekend trip to Cardiff with the van to help a friend who was moving. Other than the monthly membership, the cost is really low per month as we barely use it.
