This must be private school ? In state primary we compared what had been written. 3 sentences max. One mum who switched to private then got a thesis on how excellent her kid was and all his qualities. Not saying that to put the OP down, just want to reassure all worried parents who wonder if their kids are crap since they don't get more than a couple of lines of praise.

My children’s report from a state primary is just as detailed and thorough as this one.

My DD who is a y1 at a state primary and her report was a similar length.

Its not private school. Ds had autism and is working at year 1 level. I think this report has spoken about his strengths in order to build his confidence. The amount of writing is about average for this school. Dont know about others .

That's excellent. I wish all schools did this. DS1 ASD got "needs to concentrate and work harder" (with a TA 1:1 and a learning disability 🙄) while DS2 same school a couple of years later, same teacher got "Excellent as always. Hardworking and a very nice student to be around". DS1 would have needed atleast something positive.. Glad to see other teachers encourage SEN children !

Edited

Maybe our state was crap. I did put DS2 in private secondary and I don't regret it.

It would have been good to give this added context in the OP, otherwise it does come across a bit smug and boastful.

In an albeit excellent primary and we get pages...

I was baffled until the OP eventually added the context.

I felt they were assuming we should all know him.

Ah that's not so good. Ds has autism and very behinde. It's doesn't sound like they have allowed for your ds sen. My other ds his is more sandwiched. Says a mix of good things and things he needs to improve.
