Trunki suitcases useful?

Are those Trunki child suitcases useful? Our travels are mostly by automobile or train, is it just an extra thing to drag around, or is ur helpful for separating kid stuff and giving them a place of their own for stuffed animals, etc?

Honestly we used it once and then I sold it on EBay. It was hands down the most annoying bag - we bought DS a little bag that had an option to pull or on his back and it worked so much better. trunki are a bit of a nightmare to open too.

Its an extra thing to drag around.

You can't actually get that much in them, it's just the novelty of them being rideable. If your DC isn't bothered about that I'd probably just get a cabin sized suitcase instead.

I bought two off vinted (£12 for both! - same seller)
We do quite a lot of UK holidays and travel in the car, so I find them useful for that. You can’t really overpack with them ( I’m a serial overpacker) and I like that they are compact and just slot in the boot nicely.

It doesn’t have to be a Trunki, specifically, a small hand luggage type case would be just as good, but the kids love there’s as they are bright and colourful. They also like to use them as a seat and my toddler pushes his around like a car, lots of uses!

No they are awful.

They are bloody lethal to everyone else in an airport!

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 10/07/2025 19:28

for the airport absolutely not.

for U.K. travel in the absence of anything else as a novelty factor they are ok but don’t fit much in for the space

its literally impossible to pull a child on one without it tipping over due to fixed wheels

ThisOldThang · 10/07/2025 19:29

They're a pain to pack in the car due to the irregular shape and rigid construction.

Crispspaprika · 11/07/2025 07:01

Thank you, reckon we’ll pass on them, though they are very cute!
