Can I take my name of a joint bank account?

For years I have shared a bank account with a family member. They are shy about using it because I can see when they withdraw money.
But they are temporarily in need of money.
Most of the money in the account is mine. I would willing give it all to them, but they are embarrassed to accept it (it's about 2k).
Is it possible for me to take my name off the account and leave it with them, then they can use it (or not) in private and keep their dignity.
Thank you for answering if you know the answer.

Can’t you just transfer the money to an account only in their name?

Yes you can. Well it worked for us when my sister took her name off a joint account we had with Halifax/BOS. Had to do it in branch and both be there at the same time.
