Infected wisdom tooth

I’ve just finished my course of antibiotics. The pain has definitely gone away but the area around my tooth is still left feeling slightly tender. Is this normal after an infection? Or should I be going back to my dentist?

Infection might not all have cleared up. Better to go to the dentist rather than wait and see. If there is any infection left, you don't want it spreading. If it's fine, you've got good news and can stop worrying.

I didn’t have my tooth taken out I just had 5 days of metronidazole to clear the infection. The intense pain and swelling have gone but it’s just left feeling tender.

Yes ring the dentist if it does not improve.

Holding corsodyl mouthwash over the infected area for 2-3 mins several times a day can help clear up any residual infection if you can’t get a dentists appt quickly

Try rinsing with salt water and see if that helps?

I second this!

You may need a longer course of antibiotics. Go back to dentist.

That is a very short course, I would say you would be best going back, you may need a longer one. Corsodyl, salt rinses and oragel help, but don’t treat the underlying infection.
