Controlling relationship?

Hiya- just seeing what people think x
i have a newish friend and shes very nice but a bit vulnerable in the sense a quiet pushover and people do take advantage of her. She lives with a partner - she moved him & his child into her mother’s flat and I think they’ve lived there for years with no intention of leaving. Now her partner has always struck me as very controlling and possessive- every time she wants to meet me or anyone else he has to tag along and insists coming. she recently lost her job and I supported her told her I was here. Anyways this morning I woke to a Facebook message from HIM! I was shocked and asked if everything was ok he said he was just letting me know that he would be able to meet for a drink next month with me and my friend. I said I wanted to see her and would see her for women time and to catch up, he kept saying “WE will pencil something in” and insinuating clearly he was coming. In passing I asked how my friend was as she had lost her job. He said that hes very happy she lost her job and Is at home so that it works out while he starts his new job in august. She does all the childcare now for his son while he works or is out at events. When I last spoke to her she was stressed and said how upset she was to lose her job, how her partner says it works out for her to be home for his child but she said it’s not the point. I completely agree and feel she could be in a controlling relationship. I wouldn’t overstep the mark or put my opinion to her unless asked but it’s something that I’ve been thinking about.
does anyone else find this a controlling relationship? I’ve taken a step back from her as whenever I wanna meet her for a girly time, she always brings him. It’s exhausting. He also tried to stir up trouble by messaging me saying he saw my partner at work and how embarrassing the poor man is- hes doing his job!
what do you guys think?

Yes, very controlling also he's using her as a free nanny. Next time you meet and he is there can you tell her you're having period problems and you need a one to one chat with her, then try to ask about her relationship, if he still wants to be there that is very intrusive.
