Can anyone help me with this crochet tutorial?

The tutorial only covers rows 1 to 9 and assumes that you'll be able to work out the rest. I can't, but would really like to. It looks like on the uneven rows I skill a space where I would otherwise add a double, but that's all I can figure out and it's probably wrong. Can anyone help?

Let me see if I can work it out

CrochetBug · 06/07/2025 19:07

I know what she's done. I just need to work out how to explain it.

CrochetBug · 06/07/2025 19:13

I wrote it down as she did it, and seem to have ended up with 10 rows not the 9 She says. So that's confusing.

Basically you're making diamonds which are 11 stitches at the widest point. With a little granny stitch thing at the ends. (3dc, 2ch, 3dc)

So the next row will be

3slst, Granny thing. Ch 2
5dc
Ch 2, sk 2
5dc
Ch 2, sk2
5dc
Ch 2. Granny thing.

Then

3slst, Granny thing. Ch 2
8dc
Ch2 sk2
2dc,
Ch2 sk2
8dc
Ch2, Granny thing

Then im not sure as i can't visualise more than that

Edited to add that I can work it out unless you manage it yourself.

Plus that's a really pretty pattern!

I think I somehow wrote the wrong numbers down. The pattern has row 5 twice and it threw me. Bear with. I'm working on it.

CrochetBug · 06/07/2025 22:13

Right. Follow the video up until row 10 (which is called row 9 on there)

Row 10.
Granny thing
Ch2. 11 DC
Ch 2 11 DC
Ch 2.
Granny thing.

Row 11.
Granny
Ch 2. 2DC
Ch 2, sk2. 8DC. Ch2,sk2
2DC
Ch2, sk2. 8DC. Ch2, sk2
2DC, ch2
Granny.

Hopefully you'll be able to see the pattern emerging now and work it out.

Thank you so much @CrochetBug! I have been able to re-do the whole thing and then follow your instructions and I have now completed row 11. However, I am stuck again for row 12 because I am not sure when I need to dc all the way through and where I need to skip stitches to create holes. I guess I'm expected to work it out visually but my brain struggles with that. I learn better following a tutorial, failing that, I need to see the pattern! So what would row 12 equate to, in terms of which previous row is it the same as?

This is the pattern with 14 and a bit rows done.
I've marked each stitch on row 12 with a red line so you can see how many stitches there are. You might need to zoom in.

Row 12 is the equivalent to row 8, but with more diamonds as it is getting wider everytime.

@AcrylicMantaRay just wondered how you were getting on with this?
