What do trains mean by this?

What do online booking sites for trains mean when they say 'limited availability'? This is in relation too booking trains on short notice? Does this mean that those train rides will be very busy with having to sit next to someone?

Yes, limited availability will mean there are not many tickets left for that train journey (or sometimes that there are not many tickets left at that price).

Most train journeys you’ll have to sit next to someone at some point in the journey.

UK trains can often be quite busy.

the exception is London commuter trains during the day or first class.

you can expect to sit next to someone.
some trains (eg last train out of London on a Saturday night) you may need to stand.

Limited availability generally refers to tickets at that price. Trains don't sell out, as such.

And yes you'll probably sit next to someone on the train.

You don't need to create a new thread for every question about your upcoming train trip. Just choose one of your threads and post subsequent questions on there. Then people try to help you will have all the relevant info in one place.

If it's a busy train, you might not have a seat at all. You just have to find something to hold onto and stand.

Even if a train is quiet you might have someone come sit next to you. You have no power over who comes and sits in an empty seat if it is available.

What train company are you using and where are you going to a from?
Some trains get very busy and it's best to reserve a specific seat or you might end up having to stand for the journey.
Other train routes you just buy a ticket at the station and you just get on the train and find a seat.
