Car choice - VW or Kia?

Any opinions? I’ve had VW for years (up, fox, polo) and will be changing my car
torn between a Kia pro ceed and a VW golf
used, low mileage, same age/engine/insurance cost and barely any price difference!
both 1.5 petrol engines

i work for a dealership but not for either of those brands annoyingly

Test drive both?
I have a Kia but not the pro ceed but the same engine (1.5 petrol hybrid), it’s a ok car but I do like a VW, they tend to last longer and are built to a higher standard. Also I think the golf is better looking.

I’ve driven and like both annoyingly! The golf was very similar to my polo but nippier and the Kia was nice/different

might end up tossing a coin at this rate Grin
currently car is 1.2 and 11 years old so everything feels a bit nippier

Kia

Very 'relaxed' on warranty claims - well mine certainly is

I have always favoured German brands over the years, however I think the Kia has a 7 yr warranty compared to 3 yr on VW. If so that might sway me if you are truly going to toss a coin.

We’ve had a few Kia’s in our family , not a pro ceed though , and have had minimal issues with any of them . They last forever and the warranty is excellent the only expensive thing that’s gone wrong is the air conditioning system in my Soul and that was fixed under warranty at 98, 000 miles ( ish) . He is still going strong , passed his MOT with no advisories this year and has done about 170k although he is now only driven a couple of times a week as he’s our second car .

That’s my thinking too
I’m looking at 2023 models for both of them
I do like VW, my parent has a Kia and hasn’t had many issues, I’m the same with my VW, it’s only needed a new window regulator and a battery

I’ve had seven VW’s and currently have a Kia, had it five years come September. Both are great brands and I would happily only ever buy VW’s and Kia’s going forwards

I would say that the VW would be slightly better quality. When you close the door on a VW it always sounds so solid. French cars for example sound like tin. I think you may get a better spec Kia for the same money as the VW though?

I’d look at a Skoda, just to put the cat among the pigeons. The same platform as VW, but less spendy.
