Uber Pickup location after BST Hyde Park

Weirdaf1 · 04/07/2025 08:28

I'm considering pre-booking an Uber after tonight's event. The BST app suggests La Gavroche as a good Pickup location but I know that restaurant is closed.
Can anyone suggest a good Pickup location - I'm not familiar with London.

Thanks

I think the address was Brook St. I'm looking for an easily recognisable spot to wait at.

We are staying near Tower Bridge.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Not an Uber but we park in Belgrave Square when picking up after BST (DD has been a couple of times).

I wouldn't know where to suggest as Park Lane and some other roads are sometimes closed at closing time at big events.

If you decide on public transport: it's about a 20-minute walk from Hyde Park Corner exit to Victoria Station where you can catch the District Line/Circle Line direct to Tower Hill Station. Have a look on Google Maps you'll see what an easy straightforward walk it is.

Thanks. I'll have a look at these suggestions.

@Westfacing It's not so much the walk as the tube that I'd like to avoid. It's very difficult for me being underground. I'm quite claustrophobic and the heat makes it worse.

There are crowds of people snaking from all exits of the park. We had to hold hands tightly as it would be so easy to get separated. The roads get congested very quickly. I would honestly either leave early if you can't do the tube or get up to somewhere near Piccadilly/Soho to choose a pick up point.

Blimey, it’s not that bad. We left at the end of the Stray Kids set last year, made our way out to Hyde Park Corner and met DH there (he’d parked round the corner on Belgrave Square).

I understand the claustrophobia - I'm extremely claustrophobic and don't even lock the door in public loos!

But I do travel on the tube - particularly the District & Circle lines which serve Tower Hill. The trains are modern and air-conditioned plus they are one long carriage so you are not closed in.

The pp's suggestion of Belgrave Square is good - just off there is Halkin Street, the Caledonian Club could be a good pick-up point.

@Ddakji I've done Hyde Park for the Dylan and Neil Young concert and also Springsteen last year so it could be my experience doesn't reflect typical events. But it was certainly super busy on those occasions.

Oh, sure, it’s very busy. Possibly after K-pop ones the vibe is different - more kids and teens + parents, less booze!

All the help is much appreciated. It's a long awaited treat for my dd and I want to make sure it goes smoothly. I've never been to London before so it's all new to me.
Any ideas how long I should factor in to leave park and get to Belgrave Sq. Considering the crowds etc.
Thanks

It’s a lovely walk from there to Tower Hill, just over half an hour along the river. If it was me I’d plan to do that rather than spend the whole concert stressed.

HolyMacaroniBatman · 04/07/2025 10:43

Actually mis-read where you are, it’s a longer walk and just over an hour. Still lovely but you might not fancy it!

I would say about 20 minutes or so. Head out towards Hyde Park Corner and Belgrave Square is on the right as you look at Hyde Park Corner from the Park.
Might be worth booking the uber once you’re out of the Park. Or you could maybe even go old school and flag down a cab!

Would it be possible to flag a cab with the crowds at that time?

I think so. Don’t get a cycle rickshaw, whatever you do.

But there’s always cars and cabs there, and I think most people aren’t getting them, they’re pouring down to Victoria or the tube.

But we’ve always driven to collect so my recollection may not be accurate!

Is this for Sabrina Carpenter? Exciting!

Westfacing · 04/07/2025 11:15

As far as I understand things with Uber, and I stand to be corrected: when you book ahead you are not allocated a certain driver who will make his way at the appointed time, say with a local mini-cab company, but they just put out an alert and there is no guarantee that it will be picked-up by a driver?

If I were you I would wait until you are at say the Caledonian Club then call, rather than aim for a certain time - you have no idea which exit you will come out of and it could take you longer to get there.

Once you get away from the immediate hubbub you will be able to pick up a black cab

Do not try and walk from Hyde Park to Tower Hill!

For what it’s worth, the District and Circle Line trains are air conditioned which mitigates the heat problem somewhat.

Thanks everyone. We left a bit early and ordered an Uber. Traffic was heavy but we got back OK.
