Anyone watching flightradar tonight? Just seen this thing go past the house quite low, we’re near Bromley. looks like it did a lovely scenic route over London and now heading up past Chelmsford! Flight SHF466

Any exciting theories? Prince William having a joy ride? 🧐

We often see those. I always assume they're heading for Woolwich, but I suppose they could be going further afield.

Rosepalmaviolets · 03/07/2025 22:19

I'm south of London and saw several army vehicles on the move today I've never seen before around here

Vitrolinsanity · 03/07/2025 22:22

End of training at Woolwich. I used to go to the barracks party in my 20’s.

Ooh it’s just disappeared off flightradar near Ipswich!

Sounds fun!! Did you go by helicopter?

I saw them too.
Apparently they were filming something (as in a Hollywood film).
Edit : sorry it was helicopters I saw.
Not vehicles.

I live on that flight path and there was a Chinook buzzing around at about 6pm this evening as well, heading (I assumed) towards the Colchester barracks. It's not uncommon to see them around here.

Mulledjuice · 03/07/2025 22:28

There's at least one south Central- Waterloo/Westminster maybe

SheSpeaks · 03/07/2025 22:31

Made me think of the BFG.

GladAllOver · 03/07/2025 22:34

I could tell you but...

Need the laugh reaction back! Unless you’re deadly serious 😅🤣

It’s probably a thing this evening then, as we have had the East Mids Police down south on a sightseeing (training?) jolly, low level over the famous White Horse Hill, a retail park/cinema complex, circles over Weston Super Mare, along the coast, circles over Bristol among various other places…😃

There were 4 in the city today. One theory was something to do with publicity for new superman film

That’s a nice looking plane!

Maybe landed at Wattisham airfield (near Ipswich) - used to be RAF base but now it’s army. The red arrows use it when they practice too.

IncessantNameChanger · 03/07/2025 22:48

They come over house in twos or threes regularly. Sometimes they seem only twice the hight of the house but that's quite rare.

chinooks fly along the Thames all the time.

my bug bear was the helicopter that buzzed over the London Bridge area consistently between 4:30 - 7am on Tuesday morning and woke me up!! I thought it was the police due to the low flying and hovering (in bed so didn’t actually look outside) but when I looked on flight radar it wasn’t them.

Edited

DS and his girlfriend were kept awake by that one too. Apparently it was all to do with a publicity stunt for the latest Superman film. Very unsociable of them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/c3d11yyx207o

A figure of superman is suspended at the peak of the shard. A helicopter is hovering behind.
