Have you ever gone off sick and not cited it was due to your mental health?

Work is busy and I’m feeling very overwhelmed. I’m thinking of taking a sicky, never done this before but finding everything hard.
What have you/would,you do?

How long until you feel better?

I have pulled a sicky just to get a breather but only a day. Otherwise it’s just a case of sucking it up until you get some leave or find a new job.

I have walked out of a shit job before - that was instant relief.

Yes I have but only for one day as I was totally overwhelmed and just needed a small reprieve to rest and get sorted

Ask if you can have this moved to.Chat. I think it's an interesting question and would be good to know what people think is acceptable.

I think everyone has had a job or period if study the felt overwhelmed with. I would interested in whether an actual mental health problem or a flexible work environment made the biggest difference.

I have done this in the past but spent the time feeling guilty, and stressing about what will be waiting for me when I return. So it was completely counterproductive. And the work didn’t go anywhere while I was off. So I was even more busy and overwhelmed when I came back.

Much better to schedule some annual leave and ensure you have proper cover in place.

But I suppose it depends on your role etc.
