Reducing work hours - advice

If you work a reduced week, how did you go about asking your boss to cut your hours, if you are in a demanding job? Did you have to offer concessions or guarantees about workload?
TIA

You want to cut your hours, so your boss will want to know who is going to do the work that you would normally do in the hours that you now won’t be in.

Are you wanting to go part time? Could you suggest to your boss that you get another part time person and the two of you do a job share? Is there someone else with my very little to do that could take on the work you now won’t be doing?

Your boss will want to know that you cutting your hours won’t affect the workload or anybody else or that it won’t affect the business in a detrimental way. Your boss can say no if your role is full time and they require one person to do it full time.
