Infected wisdom tooth

Hi, I’ve just been prescribed metronidazole for my infected wisdom tooth because amoxicillin does not seem to be working for me. Has anyone else ever taken this for dental pain and did it work for you?

It works really well for wisdom teeth infections. Make sure you are managing it locally as well with careful hygiene. Chlorhexidine gel on a cotton bud around the infected gum (could also use salty water or mouthwash) and as soon as it becomes less painful start brushing the area carefully.
It won't give any pain relief so you will need to take painkillers as well and can take a couple of days before you'll start to see a reduction in the swelling and pain.

I have, it's very good.

@MrsSethGecko how quickly did it ease symptoms for you?

Within a couple of hours I was feeling better. Miraculous stuff. It did make me feel a bit queasy though, but worth it for the tooth misery being gone!
