I've just been made redundant, having worked continuously since I was 21 (I'm 33 now) Obviously panicking about money. There aren't a lot of jobs in my industry and lots of competition.

Would I be entitled to JSA? Anyone have any experience of claiming? Sounds like it's £90 a week which would make a huge difference.

My partner earns 50k but we live in south east with a big mortgage.

Yes, get your claim in straight away. You can do it online

Do you have to go to interviews at the job centre and take any job? Or do they let you try to hold out for an equivalent job in your industry? I have no idea how long it will take me to land something.

Make a claim online and you will be invited for the interviews every 2 weeks ,its to check if you are actively looking for work, you may need to show them a proof thst you are for example registered with recruitment or job applications, but to be honest they never asked me for anything.

You can get contributions based JSA for 6 months. No idea what it's like these days and what they have you doing, such as applying for jobs and courses etc
