Why does the flight route look like this?

Just tracking my Son’s flight. His girlfriend was ever so nervous which has got me started!

Anyway, what that back track thing it looked like it did over Luxembourg/Brussels.

I’ve never tracked a flight in my life so this may be very normal.

Will add photo - not sure if it takes sometime to appear.

Does it look the same on Flight Radar 24?

Ive just gone into that and it doesn’t seem to give me an option to track specific flights, just a sea of yellow planes! I did type in flight number TOM7786 but it doesn’t come up. Birmingham to Corfu with TUI.

It's a glitch in the tracking system - the plane didn't really take that route
