Claiming job seekers allowance?

i have recently handed my notice in as I am so unhappy at work.

am I entitled me to jsa as I have chosen to be out of work? I am hoping I won’t be out of work for too long but need something which fits around the children so could be difficult.

for context my husband is a high earner (not quite 6 figures that everyone on mumsnet seems to earn though!) so we don’t need it to survive but it would help to keep things ticking over.

thank you!

No because you chose to leave. You can claim after 26 weeks

It's highly unlikely as it will be based on your household income not individual even if you hadn't given up your job voluntarily.

No harm in applying for JSA New Style (previously contribution based) assuming you have the NI contributions required (Google it). They will ask why you left your last job so you may not be successful but you won't know unless you try.

Edited

Job seekers allowance is not means tested, so her husbands salary is irrelevant (don’t know about giving up job voluntarily aspect).

I thought voluntarily leaving may have an impact but it’s not clear online if that has an impact or not!

Hi, yes to are entitled to it. I left my job in December and then started a temp job, which ended. I am now claiming contributions based Jobseeker’s Allowance while I look for a new role. If your work place was toxic that’s reason to not stay - plus the job market is horrific atm (at lease in public and third sector).

Sorry so many grammatical errors you least
