This is a long shot but I need to produce my exam results from 1987. English language and maths
My old school cant help with which exam board it was they used.
I've tried AQA who found my biology and french but nothing else.
Would anyone of my age be able to shed any light? I studied in Lincolnshire.
Thanks

Contact edexcel, ocr and wjec.

It is likely that your old exam boards merged into one of these and they will have records.

My exams were around this time and I'm pretty sure they were just called "Oxford". The boards and names will have changed over the years.

HighburyHope · 27/06/2025 12:40

My 1984 O Levels were with the Oxford & Cambridge board, but there was also an Oxford board and a Cambridge board. Others which were well-known in England at the time were JMB, AEB and some sort of London one that I can’t remember

I had this issue when I applied to retrain which required a degree. I could producn MA and BA certificate, as well as A level certs but had lost my GCSEs. In the end, I pleaded ( pled?) my case with the uni and they realised how ridiculous it was to need the earlier qualifications certs and let me off producing them. Good luck, I remember it being very frustrating trying to get to the bottom of it. Oh, and several months later I found the damn things anyway.

burnoutbabe · 27/06/2025 12:54

I had mine luckily, from 1989 and 1991. useful when i did a second degree.
I then got some fascbook messages from old school mates who wanted to know the boards as they were doing a degree as a mature student.

So contact via facebook or Linked in the brightest sparks/most organised from your school days. Blokes may be easier to find as keep the same name.

This is my exact predicament!! Very frustrating. Glad you found a way around it.

I did my o levels in 1981; my school still retained all my records.

AdaColeman · 27/06/2025 16:55

It might be worth contacting the admissions department at the university you obtained your degree, explain your predicament and asking them for a letter confirming that you had met the matriculation qualifications for entry. Surely that would be enough proof for your prospective course provider?

Rattai · 27/06/2025 20:49

Thanks everyone. Another pleading phone call to admissions and everything is sorted. I'm in!!!

I had to produce my cse grade 1 maths result after completing 2 primary degrees, 2 post grads and had been lecturing for several years! I’m 59 and my boards were Oxford and Cambridge I managed to track it down eventually but what a palaver!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/06/2025 06:45

@Rattai - yes!!

I joined a big public sector organisation 20 years ago, and I had to list all my qualifications and show my certificates. It was a graduate engineer job, but i still had to prove O level Spanish from 1987! I still need to list them when i apply for a job, but they've never asked for evidence again.

I have my certs in a filing cabinet, along with birth certificates, passports etc.

The exam boards were AEB, University of London, Oxford and Cambridge and Nuffield for science.
