Bumping into a crush from the past

DS is early 20s, and bumped into a girl he had a big crush on at university at an alumni mixer. He hadn't seen her in well over 3 years but he still got nervous around her and blushed bright red after chatting to her.

He told me this when he got back, that's how I know.

Now I'm wondering has this happened to anyone else? Do you still have the feelings?

I've only ever been with DH for nearly 30 years so this wouldn't happen to me.

I bumped into an ex at a mainline train station. Long story but always had a special place for him. He was doing well. It was a nice chat.

It's tricky as there would have been emotions in the past and maybe fondness still but also it's usually a fleeting slightly awkward convo.
Where you both want to say how great things are for you both now 😄.

There's a million other things I could have said about what I learned from the relationship and any regrets I had, but not really any point or appropriate when lives have moved on. May be different if there might be a chance of getting back together. I thought best just to be grateful for what it was and wish them well which I did.

I know from DS that he had a crush on her from the moment he first met her in class. They were good friends for a bit, but the friendship seemed to wind down and become less close after (DS assumes) she found out how he felt.

DS was fine with it and moved on.

He was surprised how after 3 years though he still blushed bright red
