Popular things you wouldn't even do for free... (Glastonbury for me)

Me? Glastonbury. There isn't enough vodka in Russia to get me there. Too many people, too much noise, hay fever, having to piss and shit (both of which I need to do a lot) in shared portaloos probably with no bog roll, not having a proper shower or proper anything wash wise, feeling sticky and unclean, not having a real bed to sleep in. The list goes on and on and on. If someone offered me £50,000 to go from the very beginning to the very end I'd probably consider it but even then I doubt I'd bite. If I did I'd probably die of misery by day two anyway. Utter, utter misery.

What's yours?

A Guardian reporter (can’t remember his name) did a brilliant “first time at Glastonbury” article a couple of weeks ago, and said everyone he passed had an expression of half pain, half wilful enthusiasm!

I went decades ago when nobody paid - you just knew where the organised ‘holes in the fences’ were, and paid a nominal sum for a guy to usher you through.

It was still the rave scene though, and everyone I was with from London seemed exclusively into dance music. No one had any interest in seeing the main acts, they just wanted to stay up until 1am when all the DJs started, then sleep until about 2pm. I didn’t take class A drugs and was bored (and knackered) out of my mind.

Nice weather that year though..,

Spain.

I just don’t get it. Give me France and Italy any day.

We’ve been going to Catalonia for the past decade and it’s just beautiful, about an hour away from Barcelona by the coast.

I didn’t realise until speaking to people who’ve holidayed in the rest of Spain though, how very different it is.
