and will it cause a rash if i pick it up to move it

I don’t know what species it is but chances are with any hairy caterpillar like that, it could cause a rash. Persuade it gently onto a piece of paper.

That is a gypsy moth caterpillar and may cause a reaction in some people.
Not me though - isn't he beautiful?

Ah thanks @SoSoOuting ! I was wondering if it was a tiger moth of some sort. Never seen a gypsy moth.

i popped it into a flower pot and put it in a bush. it was lovely! it nearly got sat on as it was on our hammock!

Assume i’ve just found it (or ones of its friends) again in my garden! It’s taken root on my son’s BMX, no riding for him!
