Can I split Propranolol?

I’ve been put in 40mg Propranolol but feel so flat- almost zombie like. Can I split the tablet and have (hopefully) 20mg?

P.S. I asked the nurse practitioner at the time, in case the answer was to ask for 10mg tablets instead but she said it was fine to do.

If 20mg feels too much then ask for some 10s.

Just checking is this for anxiety? If it's for something else (heart, blood pressure) speak to your doctor.

@SilverBlue56 thank you! Yes for anxiety- I’ve requested a lower dosage via the nhs app however a response will take up to 72 hours. So thought of splitting it but a bit nervous

I've been doing it for years, don't stress about it, it works fine 🙂
