Affected by the recent heat?

Was anyone affected by the recent heat wave? I felt tired, out of sorts, couldn't sleep, depressed, and it last two days after heat. Cooler weather, I'm fine again. I did everything you are supposed to do in a heat wave but still felt horrible. 🙃

I always do - it drains the life out of me. I have chronic illnesses that make me intolerant to it though but it always takes a while to recover. That’s even with air con.

You might need your hard hat on though, OP. Any thread about not liking/being intolerant to warm weather normally descends into unpleasantness.

I love the sunshine, but on my own terms! Being in the office on Friday with no air con, the temp rose to 28 degrees and I felt so unwell - out of it, tired, uncomfortable, a bit light headed. I drove home in a no air conditioned car and my feet were swollen (I’m 39!) I had to get in the kids paddling pool and fully submerge for 20mins, and then I felt ok again.

I have been feeling pretty low, frustrated, fatigued and irksome the past week but hadn’t associated it with the weather. As I always feel in a better mood when the sun is shining, but maybe with it being more oppressive heat it’s affected me.

I went away a couple of years ago to a country that had a huge heatwave and no aircon anywhere and I honestly felt mentally unstable. Like DEPRESSED. I remember watching a dad playing with his girls in the (soupy warm) pool and thinking awww, then, but what’s the point, we all die.

not normal!!! So yes OP, I do kind of agree. As im normally a pretty balanced, positive person.

It’s an age thing with me - definitely don’t cope with the heat as well as when I was younger. Lucky enough to live by the sea though so I can cool off.

No - as it was nice here for about 4 days. The damp, cold weather affects me negatively so live for hot and dry days

narcASD · 25/06/2025 13:24

Hell yes! I HATE it, anything over 25 is just unbearable for me. Constant sweating, not able to sleep, irritable and exhausted, I like sunshine but really do not cope with high temperatures, it makes me depressed and feel claustrophobic.

Due for another weekend of 30 plus where I am and it’s giving me anxiety already!

MoonlightMemories · 25/06/2025 14:28

Yep, couldn't sleep properly due to how hot and humid it was, which meant I've been in a state of sleep deprivation for most of the past week, which means I'm struggling to think straight at times and now I'm having random muscle twitches as a result and heart palpitations on and off.....also had those on some of the 30+ degree days we had, because the heat makes your heart work harder as you try to sweat and stay cool...not felt great at all 🥴

afaloren · 25/06/2025 15:07

Hate the heat. It’s ok I guess if you’re sitting under an umbrella sipping a cool drink and there’s a breeze but trying to do anything is a nightmare. Can’t sleep either.

Are you on any medication? If you’re on some mental health meds (which I am) or some allergy meds they can mess with your ability to regulate your temperature. Same if you’re neurodivergent, which I also am!

I just checked the forecast for where I live...going to be 32 but feels like 35 here on Mondaya....I'm really really dreading that...I'm struggling at 26 degrees as the moment as it is!

QuestionableMouse · 25/06/2025 21:04

I had my first ever panic attack on Sunday and I'm blaming the heat. It didn't drop under 27c in my flat 🥵
