thats for me to know
I don’t talk about personal stuff
that’s on a need to no basis and you have no need to know
mind your own
snout out
thats not your concern
plain old mind your own
or mind your own beeswax

or ask them what they just said
see if they repeat
if they do say why are you so interested
or if they repeat say ask alot of questions don’t you

then if they still push
say none of your business
or you’ll have to see

that’s for me to know

a few of my ideas

what’s do you tend to say ?
stick of nosey questions like
have you paid of your morgage
do you want more kids
workn questions
sex questions
pension questions

Well we can't go into that now

AgileTurtle · 25/06/2025 01:54

'I'll have to check my pension statement and get back to you'. (Hopefully they get the hint?!)
Same with mortgage statement.
'That's something my partner and I haven't decided yet/I haven't got a crystal ball'.

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 25/06/2025 01:56

‘Why do you want to know that ?’

beachcitygirl · 25/06/2025 02:05

What a strange thing to ask ? Said with a head tilt

ThisSillyFox · 25/06/2025 02:06

Fuck off

Nothankyov · 25/06/2025 02:48

I just smile at them and say “bless your heart” and walk away or if I can sit there in silence.

AcrossthePond55 · 25/06/2025 02:53

I give a good "Paddington stare" for 3-5 seconds and then an obvious change of subject to something innocuous .

Them: "How much is your mortgage?"
Me: <Paddington Stare for count of 5>
Me: "So, do you think we're going to have a hot summer/cold winter?"

whackamole666 · 25/06/2025 03:06

Someone asked me a very personal question about a sibling once, being very very nosey. I said I didn't know the answer but I'd mention their query to my sibling and ask them to get back to the nosey parker. Oh boy, nosey parker was horrified and backed off quickly.Grin

Depending on the situation, person and need for politeness or not:
"Why would you want to know that?"
"That is a weirdly personal question. Are you usually this rude?"
"That's none of your concern"
"That's not something I'm discussing."
"Fuck off."

Crushed23 · 25/06/2025 03:46

”Well…” + laugh + immediately change the subject

That usually works for me.

I used to say “I’m a private person” but I found that made people not want to talk to me at all, not just about personal stuff. 😂

Well we can't go into that now

Oooh I like this.

BaguetteLady · 25/06/2025 03:48

I say "Oh, that's an interesting question!"
Or sometimes, "Oh, that's a long story." And change the subject.
